Demo Night: Journalism Startups at Tow-Knight
NYC Entrepreneurial Journalism and Media Meetup
Join us for our Wednesday, May 17 6pm Demo Night!
We’ll feature fellows from our Tow-Knight Entrepreneurial Journalism program.
The 16 presenters represent 10 countries. They’ve been developing their startup projects for the past 15 weeks. In our Tow-Knight entrepreneurial journalism program, fellows study new business models for news, sharpen their entrepreneurial skills and explore media innovation in NYC. Now they’re ready to share their projects with you!
Here’s a full list of the startups presenting, along with brief bios.
Doors Open 5:45pm (Arrival and settling in, light snacks)
Presentations 6:00pm – 8:30pm (16 demos, 4-minutes each, plus q&a)
This year’s startups include:
• Fader by Vragments, an easy-to-use virtual-reality editing tool
• Alkunnash.com, a social media verification platform for Arabic news
• Techtiv.ist, a weekly newsletter covering the intersection between politics and technology
• ZNews Africa, an app and newsletter covering news across Africa
• @StreetMusicMap, a project nominated for a 2017 Webby
… and more terrific media entrepreneurs.
Click here for a full list of projects and bios.
Read more about these projects on the Journalism Innovation Medium page.
Please note: this will be a longer event than our usual demo nights. We’ll keep the pace quick, with each presentation clocking in at four minutes to accommodate the 16 startups presenting! To meet the startup founders one on one, please join us for our open-house showcase event on Tuesday, May 16, anytime between 12:30 to 3pm.
