Building Your First Plugin
WordPress NYC Meetup Group
This has been the most requested topic in the last few months, so I thought it would be a great way to start off the year!
Plugins allow you to add features to your WordPress website even if you switch themes or upgrade WordPress. They can interact with your theme, WordPress or even other plugins.
In this session we will build a plugin live at the meetup and go over:
• How plugins work.
• Review the plugin header.
• Using hooks and filters.
• Understand the mu-plugins folder.
Presented by Steve Bruner
OPENING PRESENTATION: Learn the Alexander Technique Now!
Have long hours toiling over a keyboard or tablet ever gotten you down? Do you love WordPress but wish the thrill of web design didn’t bring along with it nagging tension and even pain in your back, neck and shoulders?
The Alexander Technique can help you find greater comfort at work… and at play. It’s an educational process that opens your eyes to habits that cause needless strain, tension and discomfort. As you gain insight into your habitual patterns, an AT teacher’s gentle hands-on guidance helps you to gradually replace those habits with conscious choices that promote ease, balance and flexibility.
Presented by Tim Tucker
